The Faculty has extended its training areas to Petroleum Engineering and accordingly changed its name to Faculty of Geology and Petroleum. It had then 4 departments:
- Geo-environment
- Geotechnics
- Petroleum Geology
- Drilling and Production Engineering
2004: -The Faculty was renamed Faculty of Geology and Petroleum Engineering.
