I. INTRODUCTION
- Along with the development history of the Faculty of Geology and Petroleum Engineering, the Simulation Laboratory formerly known as the "Computational & Simulation Engineering Department", was established in 2005.
- Number of employees of the unit (as of November 25, 2021) is 05, Number of main staff: 03 (PhD. 02, M.E 01), Number of office staff: 01 (M.E 01)
II. FIELD OF ACTIVITIES
1. SPECIALIZED TRAINING SECTIONS
The Simulation Laboratory is an educational unit serving undergraduate and graduate training and scientific research in the national education system and technology transfer service activities at the request of organizations and individuals. Main tasks of the laboratory:
- Teaching students of the Faculty of Geology and Petroleum Engineering practical subjects in the field and in the laboratory;
- Guiding students to make topics, essays, theses, scientific research...;
- Serve for lecturers to do domestic and foreign research and topics, to perform technology transfer contracts;
- Consulting on the application of management systems, improving the quality of the ground;
- Training and fostering professional and technical expertise in field and laboratory tests in the field of geology, oil and gas industry.
- Testing the quality of products on soil, rock, water, core samples, cement, drilling fluid... as required;

- Enhancing oil recovery.

3. TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER SECTOR
Research results and laboratory equipment can be used to partially meet the needs of society in the field of petroleum engineering and energy resources such as:
1. Modeling and Simulation on Engineering & Technology focusing on Petroleum, Geology, Unconventional Energy, etc.
a) Modeling the mud cutting transport in oil and gas well drilling operations
b) Developping the stress models around the drilling borehole in wellbore stability analysis, sanding, hydraulic fracturing, etc.
2. Analysis and Design the equipment and construction
a) Using Artificial Intelligence to predict and analysis the stuckpipe
b) Using Borehole Failures from Image logs in Petroleum and Geology Engineering
3. Experiment the Modeling of Petroleum Engineering
a) Transportation of Drilling Fluids and Mud Cuttings
b) Applying Nano materials and technology in oil and gas industry (cements, drilling fluids, etc.)
III. FACILITIES
In the period from its establishment to the present, the laboratory has been invested with a number of new equipment such as: Core flooding system (completed 2/3 stages), emission measurement equipment water of drilling fluid, meter for stabilizing emulsions in drilling fluid, JJ5 cement mortar mixer, benchtop pH/mV/temperature meter, sand density scale, 1500VA pressure regulator, degree meter conduction system, centrifugal water pump, PUMA air compressor, ... along with high configuration PC and CPU system, ... with a total cost of about 2 billion VND, has been operating very effectively for teaching & learning, scientific research.
IV. RESULTS OF TRAINING AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
1. TRAINING RESULTS
- Organize field practice and survey of oil and gas technical outcrops for about 150 - 200 students of the Faculty of Geology & Petroleum Engineering.
- Organized production internships in petroleum engineering with about 30-40 students/major in petroleum geology, oil and gas drilling & production.
- Graduation guidance for 15-25 students, 5-8 graduate students, 1-2 PhD students.
- Open training courses, thematic classes on oil and gas geological experiment for production units and external agencies as required.
2. SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH RESULTS
Scientific research topics/projects that have been carried out in the last 5 years related to the laboratory:
- 01 project of the Protocol between Vietnam and Korea
- More than 04 National University-level projects
- More than 05 School-level projects
V. FOREIGN
- Carry out a number of collaborative research projects with universities and other organizations in the region and the world.
- Participate in scientific research with the Laboratory of Enhanced Oil Recovery, Faculty of Energy and Earth Resources Engineering, Sejong University, Korea
- Teaching postgraduate students at Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE, Italy)
- Participating in teaching for international students of Universiti Teknologi Petronas (Malaysia)
- Participating in teaching international students of Universitas Islam Riau (Indonesia)
- Participate in scientific research with Inha University and Ewha Womans University in Korea.
