SPE CONTINUING EDUCATION WIRELINE LOGGING FOR DRILLING ENGINEERS - TECHNICAL SHARING (08-03-2018)

Update at 15-03-2018

When:  Mar 22, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM (ICT)

Wireline Logging for Drilling Engineers

A brief overview of key considerations for wireline logging relevant to the drilling engineer's priorities.

Abstract:

Regardless of the well type (exploration or development), the log data is critical to the overall life of the well. Understanding how logging is performed, along with the risks and limitations, will help the drilling team make better plans and decisions.

Speaker Biography:

After completing a degree in mechanical engineering at Queen's University in 1981 (37 years ago), Ronald started work for Schlumberger in western Canada. After several years as a wireline logging engineer, and a stint at the Calgary office, he moved to offshore Newfoundland for deep-water exploration work.

Ronald subsequently left Schlumberger to pursue a variety of other interests, including private business, but was recruited again in 2006, where he worked as lead engineer (US West) with Schlumberger Seismic Special Services. Ronald then transferred overseas and eventually wound up working offshore Thailand.

Ronald left Schlumberger in 2015 and is now consulting with Gaia Earth Sciences Limited. He has extensive experience in all aspects of wireline logging operations, seismic, remote operations, high temperature & high-pressure wells. He also has considerable experience in critical analysis, LWD/MWD and conveyance management.

Ronald now resides in the Northeast of Thailand, and divides his time between finishing construction of his home (apparently a never-ending task), and consulting. He genuinely enjoys the opportunity to continue learning and working in this field, and volunteers as secretary to the organizing committee of the SPWLA Bangkok Chapter.
