Admission criteria |
The applicants can be considered based on six admission methods: 1. National Examination for High School Graduation, 2. VNU-HCM priority admission: VNU-HCM approved list of top High schools which students can apply their applications for admission, 3. MOET priority admission: Applicants got the Outstanding achievements, National awards, 4. VNU-HCM examination, 5. Priority admission for those who have international certificates and/or foreigners, 6. National Examination for High School Graduation and interview for foreign study. Note: Based on the corresponding national high school examination, every year in July-August HCMUT publishes its minimum scores for applicants who want to apply to HCMUT. The minimum scores are considered as the first requirement. In principle, at the national high school examination, those who have gained the score higher than or equal to the published minimum score of related faculty or program can apply for HCMUT consideration. Depending on the quota of each faculty or program and depending on the quality of the applicants who have submitted, the benchmark would be later determined. The applicants who have gained the national high school examination score higher than or equal to the benchmark would be recruited. Currently, for new student recruitment, Petroleum Engineering Program is firstly merged with geology engineering program. After two first semesters, students will be regrouped based on their professional expectations. |
Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate, students must meet the following requirements:
- Being recognized as HCMUT official students;
- Completing the program offered by HCMUT in general and by GEOPET in particular;
- Accumulating at least 128 credits within 6.5 years;
- Having an overall final GPA of 5 or above;
- Attaining a TOEIC certificate with a (Listening + Reading) score ≥730 and (Speaking + Writing) score ≥ 280 (or equivalently, an IELTS score ≥6.0 or TOEFL iBT score≥79);
- Joining social activities, the total time must be at least 15 days;
- Attaining the certificate of national Military Training and the certificate of Physical Education;
- Their study not being stopped compulsively by the University;
- Not committing major violations/offenses with the University or the law.
