Formerly the Department of Mineral Geology was established in 1978. In 1994, it was changed to be the Department of Basic Geology & Environment. In 2004 the Department was named Environmental Geology. The Department's mission is to provide training and research in the fields of geological environment and minerals. September 14, 2015, Department changed its name to Earth Resources & Environment.
A. EDUCATION PROGRAM:
The department has three programs:
1. Environmental Geology
- Assessing geological and environmental hazards, designing solutions to prevent geological hazards and disasters.
- Handling problems arising before, during, and after mining activities.
- Assessing environmental impact, pollution caused by mining activities, oil, and gas.
- Studying environmental geochemistry, mangrove forest
- Remediating the pollution in soil and water
- Applying the GIS, remote sensing, drone technology in resources management
2. Minerals
- Design survey, exploration of metallic, non-metallic minerals, precious stones, construction materials
- Planning the rational use of resources
3. Mining and mineral processing
- Consulting, mining design
- Processing all kinds of minerals.
