Course opening announcement
“Development and implementation of a MSc programme in groundwater study at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), Vietnam “
1. On-line course: Application of GIS and remote sensing in hydrological studies
IHE Lecturer: Prof. Hans van der Kwast
HCMUT lecturer: Phi Hoang Quang Trung/ Tran Anh Tu
Duration: July 4 to 15, 2022
On-line lectures: 4 hours lectures/day, 4 days/one week, 2 weeks (32 hours)
Group activities: all participants conduct assignments in groups at HCMCUT class room in the 2th week.
Participants: HCMUT: 6; Short course participants: 5-10
Certificates: IHE certificate be awarded to participants who completed the course and submitted assignments.
Contents: Open Data for groundwater applications; Mapping groundwater related features from existing maps; Spatial analysis using map algebra; Remote Sensing data download and processing.
2. Short course: Groundwater monitoring and data analysis
IHE Lecturer: Prof. Yangxiao Zhou
HCMUT lecturer: Thai Ba Ngoc/Pham Van Tuan
Duration: two weeks in September, 2022
Lectures: 4 hours lectures/day, 5 days/one week, 2 weeks (40 hours)
Group activities: all participants conduct case studies in groups and present results.
Participants: HCMUT: 10; Short course participants: 5-10
Certificates: IHE certificate be awarded to participants who completed the course and submitted case study reports.
Contents: Groundwater monitoring; Geostatistical data analysis, Exercises with Excel and Surfer, Field visit; Group case studies.
3. Short course: Groundwater chemistry and pollution
IHE Lecturer: Prof. Tibor Stigter
HCMUT lecturer: Dao Hong Hai/To Viet Nam
Duration: two weeks in October, 2022
Lectures: 4 hours lectures/day, 5 days/one week, 2 weeks (40 hours)
Group activities: all participants conduct case studies in groups and present results.
Participants: HCMUT: 10; Short course participants: 5-10
Certificates: IHE certificate be awarded to participants who completed the course and submitted case study reports.
Contents: Groundwater chemistry; Groundwater pollution, Exercises; Field work, Group case studies.
4. Short course: Applied groundwater modelling

Duration: two weeks in November, 2022
Lectures: 4 hours lectures/day, 5 days/one week, 2 weeks (40 hours)

Contents: Groundwater flow modelling; Contaminant transport modelling, Tutorials with GMS10.5; Group case studies.
